Summary
In January of 2009 we spent a cold weekend in Smith. On Saturday, we climbed Massive Luxury Overdose (5.10c; super fun and mostly easy knob pulling…till the end that is), Cosmos (5.10a…again, this time led by Shirley), Tale Of Two Shitties (5.10a…again, this time the crux was led by Shirley), and Out Of Harm’s Way (5.8) on Spiderman Buttress again. On Sunday, we hiked to the Phoenix Buttress where Shirley led Hissing Llamas (5.8) and Phoenix (5.10a…uberclassic sport pitch). I led the decent J.T.’s Route (5.10b). Is all.Photos
Masive Luxury Overdose

Leading the very nice Massive Luxury Overdose (5.10c)..going starts easy on big knobs (5.7) and slowly gets harder till the very last few moves that involve manhandling the arete (Jan. 2009).

Leading the pretty & bolted line Massive Luxury Overdose (5.10) on the Mesa Verde Wall. The nice dihedral on the right is Trezlar (5.10-)...the chossy looking shit to the left hosts 2 trad classics (a .7 and an .8 apparently).
Cosmos

Shirley on the nice Cosmos (5.10a sport) line. Unknown climber on the right is leading the classic Screaming Yellow Zonkers (5.10b). Mesa Verde Wall, Smith Rock, Oregon. January 2009).

Shirley leading Cosmos (5.10a) on the Mesa Verde Wall. This is the start of the crux section (Jan. 2009).
Tale Of Two Shitties

Shirley starting up pitch 2 of Tale Of Two Shitties (5.10a). Nice handcrack in dihedral (5.8) to a crux crack through bulge (5.10a; Jan. 2009).

Shirley is at the top of pitch 2 and I'm atop pitch 1 of Tale Of Two Shitties on Mesa Verde Wall (Jan. 2009).

Yours truly following pitch 2 of Tale Of Two Shitties on Mesa Verde Wall. Trying to get the circulation back to my hands/fingers on a chilly January day 2009.

Shirley & Blondie trying to warm up after some very chilly climbing on the Mesa Verde Wall (Jan. 2009).
Out Of Harm’s Way

Shirley nearing the top of the very nice Out Of Harm's Way (5.8) on the Spiderman Buttress (Jan. 2009).
Hissing Llamas
J.T.’s Route

Starting up the decent J.T.'s Route (5.10b) on the Phoenix Buttress. Easy climbing till the final exit moves out of the dihedral (Jan. 2009).
Phoenix

Shirley leading Phoenix on the buttress by matching name. This is the crux. A very, very fun 10a sport line! January 2009.
