The next day we said good-bye to our hosts and headed home via an almost 24-hour layover in Sydney. We took a train to the waterfront and checked out the usual tourist spots as well as places recommended to us by Garry and Jutta (we esp. enjoyed the fish market and the killer sashimi). I generally have little interest in visiting large cities, but Sydney struck us as pretty livable and we had a good time. Soon enough we were home and frantically putting some finishing touches on our South America trip.
