Summary
Shirley doing the "spin-around" move while leading Stroken' The Chicken. Apparently she's not the first one to do this on this route (March 7, 2004).
Our first visit to Vantage happened in early March of 2004. On Saturday, the temptation of The Feathers (short approach) proved too much and we spent a day clipping bolts on the short but OK routes there. All easy stuff and the only route names I recall are
Don Coyote (5.8) and
The Uprising (5.8)…though we did a few more. On Sunday, we hiked to the Sunshine Wall where I led the beautiful
Party In Your Pants (5.8) and Shirley ticked
Stroken’ The Chicken (5.6) which included a cool turn-around move near the top. There was an accident that day (a climber died somewhere on the Sunshine Wall) and so the Fire & Rescue cleared the cliffs prior to helo’s arrival.
