Summary
Haydar (red helmet) and Shirley simulclimbing the upper NE Ridge. Close-up shot from summit (Aug. 19, 2006).
During his two week visit in August of 2006, we took my brother up the
Northeast Ridge of Black Peak. Our friend Haydar was kind enough to join us so that we could move faster as two parties of two. Although we were initially thinking of overnighting it by Wing Lake, we changed plans at the last minute figuring that dragging all the overnight shit was not worth it for this route. On the downside, we missed out on some fun socializing in camp with Brian & his wife (GF back then I believe) Annie and Tazz and co. On the upside, we saw a mermaid bathing in one of the small lakes on the approach…well, everyone saw her except for my brother who’s had to live with himself ever since. Oh yeah, and given that this was not in the national park, Blondie joined us on the outing as well (at least as far as Wing Lake). A great fun time on a scenic ridge (the descent down the south face sucked).

Shirley leading some runout 4th class choss on lower part of NE Ridge. Going became more fun on the upper half though (& bit more solid). The approach "mini-glacier" is below (Aug. 19, 2006).

Tom on the summit of Black Peak...I guess car to car stuff is not for him...harden the fuck up Tom! Photo credit goes to Haydar K.

Either Haydar or Tom descending the loose nastiness that is the south ridge of Black Peak.
