Pitch 3 of Trifecta.
Old San Juan.
Sometime in early March, the cold and wetness-induced, late winter itch became unbearable and we scrambled to get it scratched. Though we initially thought about a quickie Mexico trip, the rising cholera cases there had shut down Pena de Bernal to climbing and so we figured that other venues south of the border might become unavailable as well. Looking around the internet, I stumbled on a query on mountainproject regarding climbing in Puerto Rico – a place we knew nothing about especially climbing-wise. A bit of searching brought me to an online guidebook and a place called Cerro Las Tetas. Though not huge, the formations looked interesting enough and the tropical setting convinced us that it would be a worthwhile trip. We added a couple of days off to a weekend, booked a beach-side place to stay, and set off for San Juan in late April.
