Flaming rock with its classic Raindance route. We love the City Of Rocks! Something about the white granite domes rising out of the beautiful green pastures of southern Idaho – add to that super fun climbing and it’s almost heaven. We’ve been trying to visit the place at least once a year since our first trip there in the summer of 2002. Though it’s a solid 10 hour push from Portland, it’s definitely doable on a regular weekend with a bit driving overtime. So many more lines we’d like to try there…we’ll be back!
What next? The routes Shirley or I have led at the City Of Rocks. Note that if a route appears more than once in the list, the two links point to different trip reports (chances are, we both took turns leading it and likely on different trips). Enjoy.
Blondie also keeping an eye out for danger! Martin, Shirley and Haydar enjoying (liquid) breakfast in City Of Rocks (June 2006). A rainbow over City Of Rocks (…or the BLM land next door) after a brief thunderstorm (2006). Shirley, Martin, and Haydar enjoying a campfire after our fist day of climbing in City Of Rocks (June 2006).
