Summary
After getting stormed off Borah Peak during Memorial Day Weekend in 2002, we came back for Idaho’s highpoint (via the hiking route, i.e. the Southwest Ridge/Chickenout Ridge) in mid July of 2003. Another weekend push: left Portland after work at 6pm, drove through the night (675 miles) and started hiking at 7am. Shirley sprained her ankle at about the 9000 foot level but soldiered on (neither one of us wanted to turn around and have to come back again again). Crowds galore!!! Initially, had our doubts if Blondie would be able to make the summit but after seeing the summit-bound crowd at the TH, our doubts dissipated. Blondie had no issues. Beautiful views from summit. Back home on Sunday. Good outing back in our peak-bagging days.
