Bare Blåbær.
The weather forecast for the first few days looked mostly solid and we wanted to get some mileage in before the window closed. We woke up early on day one – which is a somewhat ambiguous term in a place where the sun never dips below the horizon – and drove 10 minutes to the mouth of Djupfjord which is the start of the approach for the classic Bare Blåbær (5 pitch, N5-) route. One hundred meters from the road, we passed by some tents with a couple of climbers just setting out for the same route. By the time we all reached the base ~90 minutes later, it turned out that there were already 2 parties ahead of us; and so what was supposed to be a quick, half day warm-up climb, turned out to take most of the day but we did enjoy the social aspect of it. We were climbing behind two friendly, Norwegian girls and engaged in the usual climbing chit chat at belays. The climbing was easy but very enjoyable. However, given how slow the conga line was moving, we decided to wrap things up after the first 5 classic pitches instead of continuing up the remaining 2 (reported to be less classic). On the way back to our Airbnb, we stopped by and scoped the start of the short approach to the Vestpillaren route on the Presten.
