Go back to Europe.
Going to Norway was not our “plan A.” In fact, the initial trip planning that we were doing some 10 months earlier had a much more interesting destination as a target. However, Shirley’s work BS got in the way and we could not make the late spring schedule work; and so we were left with looking for a climbing destination suitable for the middle of summer instead. Lofoten quickly bubbled up to the surface as mid-July sounded like an optimal season for dry weather. Even if those were the best odds in the relative sense, they were still not great in the absolute. We have read horror stories of climbers being totally rained out during 2- or even 3-week trips. In retrospect, we got reasonably lucky.Details
