Go back to Sudan.
Omdurman Souq.
Thanks to the incompetence of Alaska Airlines, we arrived in Khartoum a day late; mentally pretty drained given the ongoing flight issues. Since our bags were still at JFK, we needed to rearrange our planned itinerary. The following day, we went sightseeing in Khartoum since we had to stick around to see if the bags would show up on a flight from Dubai later that evening.
We checked out a large souk in Omdurman (one of the “tri cities” of Kartoum; the other being Khartoum North) and a couple of things in Khartoum proper. In the evening, we headed back to the airport and camped out by the baggage carousel. After about 90 minutes our bags finally showed up. We were back in business.
