Go back to Kassala – Part Two.
Taka Mountains.
As we were not really having a good time climbing, we were very much looking forward to a change of scenery. We headed out early in the morning bound for Arb’at on the Red Sea coast some 40 kilometers north of Port Sudan. A couple of nice coffee breaks later we met up with Osman in Port Sudan. We spent that night in a scuba diving camp by Arb’at; or more specifically, the place was next door to the Red Sea Diving Resort made famous by a 2019 movie which was loosely based on real events. And yeah, we watched the movie in camp that night. In the morning we checked out the long-abandoned resort and then headed back south to Port Sudan.

There was a large family get-together that night in the camp. Kind of interesting with some enjoyable live music and a large bonfire (fueled by periodic additions of diesel; Dec. 2021).
