Summary
Another of our annual outings to Vantage. This time (once again…two-for-two seasons in a row) we were helping our Mazama friends with their AR course. Not exactly sure how we did in the helping department but we did climb a bit. On Saturday morning, I did Air Guitar (5.10-) and Shirley warmed up on Tangled Up In Blue (5.9). I then somehow squeaked in Stems And Seeds (5.11-) cleanly (yes I know – because it’s a lot easier if you’re tall) and Shirley led Bob’s Your Uncle (5.11-) with a wee bit of a hang at the crux. We then both led Chemically Adjusted Reality (5.10) to ease us into the afternoon beer drinking. On Sunday, I did Pony Keg (5.9), Shirley led Steele Grille (5.9) and I repeated Shirley’s Saturday performance on Bob’s Your Uncle. Home early enough to catch the tail end of an amazing weather Sunday in Portland.Photos
Saturday

Starting up Stems And Seeds (5.11b). I think it truly is easier than that if you're over 6 feet tall (May 2012).

Leading Stems And Seeds - the fact that you're mostly on your legs and that the pro is thin made for some sewing up action on my part (May 2012).

Shirley seconding Stems And Seeds (5.11b...probably a more accurate grade for those sub-6 feet tall; May 2012).

Shirley starting up Bob's Your Uncle (5.11a) with the Stems And Seeds stem box on the left (May 2012).

Shirley leading into the crux of Bob's Your Uncle (5.11a); a fellow Mazama Hye is on Stems And Seeds (5.11b; May 2012).

Shirley trying to decide what to climb next while Blondie is soaking up the sunshine at the base of Sunshine Wall in Vantage (May 2012).
Sunday

Shirley leading Steel Grill (5.9) - a wide crack route that requires no off-width climbing (May 2012).
