Go back to Oregon Cascades.
French’s Dome is an outdoor gym serving the Portland climbing community. It’s a volcanic plug not quite tall enough to break through the surrounding tree canopy. For such a small piece of choss, it features quite a spread of climbing grades: from 5.6 to lower 13s (?). This was one of the places we had climbed at the beginning of our career some 18 years ago. At our friend’s recommendation (thanks Craig), we went there on a Saturday morning (in lieu of PRG’s tile wall sesh) and ended up having a decent time; sufficiently so that we went back Sunday morning as well. Both days of sporto chossaneering were mainly a stopover to some Benny watersport time in the nearby Salmon River and Timothy Lake.Video
