It’s Better With Bacon.
We got to Sacramento in the early afternoon on day 1 and headed straight for the well familiar Auburn swimming hole. A bit crowded and the river was running faster than it had two years prior (which was in July) but it was a hit nevertheless. In the morning, we drove out to The Leap and climbed It’s Better With Bacon on the “backside” of The Hogsback formation. Climbing was better than it looked from below but still only OK overall. After that we headed out to Lake Tahoe hoping for some clear water swimming. The lake turned out to be pretty freezing (even by the dogs’ generous standards) and the chilly breeze did not help. We tucked tails and headed back to the warmer Auburn Swimming Hole.
