Wy’East, Steel Cliff Gullies
Wy’East, Steel Cliff Gullies.
In the spring of 2005, Shirley & I signed up for the Advanced Snow And Ice class with the Mazamas club here in Portland. Towards the end of the “Snow” portion of the class, we climbed the Wy’East – Steel Cliff route with a portion of our class. Bad weather at Timberline, but clear above ~7K level. Met our friend Haydar at Timberline before setting out. Other than the slog along Palmer, nice (quite beautiful actually) climb. Some short sections of shitty snow high up. First alpine climb of the season.
