Rio de Janeiro.We had planned on doing another urban climb the following day; nothing hard and with a reportedly short approach. After some early afternoon bushwhacking, we could not find the start of the route. Apparently the area had been ravaged by wildfire, followed more recently by landslides; and so we retreated to a bar instead. We did not consider this a big loss as we already had our sights set on the main dish of the trip and thought that more rest would be a good thing.
The following day we had our first proper rest day of the trip. We got picked up by Duda and met up with Didi and his wife, Sue, for a day of sightseeing and eating in Rio. An excellent experience in one of the prettier cities that we have visited.
