Working Remotely

Go to Lovers Leap.

Corrugation Corner

Corrugation Corner.

With the continued work-from-home silliness, we decided to try remote working from a slightly more remote location than home. We looked around for dog-friendly cragging areas reasonably close to significant cities (i.e. reasonably high-speed internet) and finally settled on Auburn, CA. Five days of work bookended by 2 days of climbing on either side and with a healthy dose of water fun thrown in. Fact is that these days we’re about as fired up for domestic climbing as we are for taking our pup for some backcountry swimming (frankly, more fired up for the latter). On day one, we hiked into the East Wall of Lovers Leap aiming for The Line which turned out to have a mini clusterfuck (3 parties) on it by the time we got there. Instead, we climbed its next-door neighbor called Psychedelic Tree (5.9, 3 or 4 pitches). This one only had a single party on it and some hollow sounding rock on the long first pitch (combined first 2 pitches). Nice route with a pretty top-out. After that we dove to Lake Tahoe for some lap swimming in the gin clear water. The following Saturday we came back for the classic Corrugation Corner (5.7, 3 pitches) via the first pitch of Traveler’s Buttress, a route which we had climbed 10 years ago. Its classic status seems well-deserved: easy climbing but certainly a pretty position. More Tahoe watersports followed.
