Diedre

Leading pitch 3 of Diedre (July 2012).

Despite our gut feelings, we drove up to Squamish thinking about a long moderate route on The Chief. Somehow we felt out of the cragging mindset but did not have time for anything alpine that weekend. Thought we could make ourselves do some climbing but after quickly topping out on Broadway Ledge (via Diedre…a very nice route) we felt unexcited – blaaaaah. Hiked off, got some coffee and were home in the early afternoon. Late July – it’s against (our) nature to be cragging in the middle of summer I guess.

PS One thing that hit us was that the money dihedral pitches on Diedre are essentially the same climb as The Great Arch (5.5) in North Carolina .

Leading pitch 3 of Diedre. We combined pitches 3 and 4 with our 70 meter lines…required about 8 feet of simul (July 2012).
