Summary

Across The Water

Shirley leading the nice Across The Water (5.9) route on the Windfall Wall (Dec. 2011).

A nice weather, late December Sunday in the Lower Gorge with Kev B. Shirley started things off with Across The Water (5.9). We’ve done this before but could not recall who’s led it (Shirley or me). Kevin led Fool’s Pleasure (5.10a). I led Margo’s Madness (5.10b) but fell while attempting to reach the pretty face splitter crack from the Fool’s Pleasure dihedral on the right…could just feel the edge of the crack with my left hand while my right fingers were locked firmly in Fool’s Pleasure…and then I was airborne. Next time I’ll try it from the left (from Across The Water) which Watts claims is also kosher. On the way out, Kev led Off Tempo (5.10a OW) and so did I. More fun than the last time we did with 6 inches of snow at the base (and temperatures to match).

Margo's Madness

Leading the nice splitter crack after the hard entrance from the right (Fool's Pleasure route). Watts actually mentions that either way of reaching the face splitter is kosher: either from right or left (Across The Water line). Next time I'll try the latter (Dec. 2011).

Off Tempo

Yours truly leading the very nice off-width that is Off Tempo (5.10a; Dec. 2011).
